Bless her........
Done all the usual replacement parts, now let's start on the not so common parts.....

Looking on the bright side of things, at least it tells you it is faulty rather than stop working and you thinking the oil levels are OK.

After a good month or more with no trouble had to use the mechanical key to unlock my car and give it a jump start this morning.
Tried to use the NOCO GB40 battery booster that I'd purchased (claims that it will start a 6L petrol) to find that it wouldn't turn the engine over for long enough to start it before it's internal thermal protection cut in :(.
Resorted to jump leads and my wife's Micra for assistance.

My car SL 350 05,sons car CLK320,other cars BMW 318IS ,95, 1964 Chev Corvair Monza restoring.
Today took the misses to buy side cabinet to fit at side of arm chair to put things on
For easy reach after just coming home from hospital after hip replacement ,
Found a good gap to park but had to reverse to line up, then herd a crunch couldn't see in side mirror what it was because mirror was facing to floor anyway I parked car got out and saw a family looking at me then I realised I had scraped the bumper of there car not bad just like paint transfer from my bumper, so we swapped details and the driver has decided to get a quote, am waiting to see how mutch.
Didn't get any cabinet after all . MAD MAD MAD.
I realised the passenger mirror adjusted itself to kerb view when put in reverse and
Obscured my veiw( silly me)
This must have happened after disconnecting rear battery for another problem,
I forgot to reset it,
Lesson learned.

Drove 200 miles to up near Doncaster

Relaxing quiet drive, apart from loud pedal fun around A43 roundabouts
Still, over 40 mpg

Traffic not bad surprisingly

Took it to my local Fred in a shed to get an accurate price for changing the engine mounts. He said don't waste your money, there's nothing wrong with the existing ones.
His worst case cost was £250 o_O and I've got £100 refund on the eBay parts I bought
He wouldnt even take a drink for his time so I bought him a big tin of chocolates.

He thinks the noises I'm hearing are caused by a noisy fuel pump but I'm not convinced.

I'll certainly be using him again!!

Booked it in for a "B" Service. £650+. Ouch. In fact, double ouch with only 8,000 miles on it but it's 4 years old next month. :(

Also received a Vehicle Tax Reminder in the post. £570 for the year. Another ouch. I think it may get put on SORN for a few months this time as it doesn't tend to get used in the winter, mainly due to me walking everywhere nowadays. I do have another car I can use should the need arise though...

Took it for another short drive. Only 101 miles today on a circular route over the Susten, Furka and Grimsel passes. Brilliant weather and a brilliant day’s driving with generally fast and free-flowing traffic. Planning to do the Grimsel and Furka again on Saturday, in the opposite direction, on our way down to Italy.

Same here, it lives in garage, washed it at the weekend, took it out of the garage for one night to dry out the Z4 boot only to have the Saraha on my previously known as clean SL.

Fitted the new pollen filter - it wasn’t as difficult as expected - managed to get the old one and cover out without too much swearing…

All back together and AC nice and cold ready for another run to Scotchland tomorrow

It was. Fantastic scenery, beautifully engineered roads and other drivers and motorcyclists behaving responsibly. What I can’t get over is that our Councils often blame our poor winter weather for the state of our roads. So why does Switzerland, which gets far worse weather than us, have such perfect road surfaces with not a pot hole in sight!

Out for a top down drive to my favourite woods for a morning walk before the heat kicks in. Just fantastic!!
Now I've found my honest little garage man I think I'll be keeping the car and using pattern parts if run of the mill stuff breaks.
Obviously I'll use MB parts where I consider it necessary.
Oh how jealous I am of you members who have the luxury of a garage and even more jealous of thos who have lifts or pits :p
