Hi all... new to the forum. Got a 2012 c250 coupe that came with 18 inch amg 5 stroke wheels and like a moran i decided to spend 2000 pounds on 19 inches OZ Racing montecarlo wheels.. as you do cose they looked cool. And then the problems started coming in one by one. The main one for me is the ware of the tyres. Any set of tyres last be less then 5000 miles.. the car is my daily driver and i do a average of 70 miles a day 7 days a week. In a year ive changed 6 sets of tires .. from Nexus to Bridgestone to Michelin. Can anyone tell me if i need a tune after going from 18 to 19? Im desperate and broke at the same time. Thanks a lot

Hello and welcome

An expensive habit you have there in the name of fashion…

If the tyres are wearing evenly across the thread then the alignment is fine. If you’re just wearing on one side then a full alignment could improve the situation.

Are the wheels the right ones for the car, with the correct ET?

Probably why the OP is broke.....

To the OP, how was the wear on the originals, it may be worth going back to originals if you still have them.

2 k for a set of tyres and 6 sets in a year, Thats just mad.

Are your tyres getting evenly worn across the middle, is it just the shoulder,

Based on man maths your annual mileage is 26k, you have replaced 6 sets of tyres, as you mention 5k per set. Tyres should last 4 times that I would say.

ps if you are running non stock wheels / tyres, do inform your insurance co, assuming you are in the UK.

Wow! That's some F1 style degredation you have there :) Clearly something is not right. I canged both my E-class from 18" to 19" with no increase in tyre wear. As said, how evenly they are wearing is the key to the problem.

I would have all the suspension arms checked for wear (replace if necessary) then Full laser alignment on a Hunter machine.

Those are terrible wear rates, even I can get 10k out of rear tyres and 20k out of the fronts on my C350CDi with 18" wheels.

Keep the rear tyres at 2pis below the recommended for more even wear across the tread

Its the rear tyres.. the original wheels lasted me 2 years when i first got the car an they were no name tyres... bought tyres wears evenly but theres no tred left after about 4900 miles... they look like drag tyres. The photos are taken on the 11th of August. Ive change 2 sets since then. Had them tracked, had the car mot ed... no promblems found.. the only other thing was.. when i first put the wheels on a year ago.. a had a message in the dash , usually at a stop light, when i wanted to go forward, the car entered in limp mode and the dash was saying that the runflat sensor inactive. But besides that.. nothing. It went away after a month

Ive got them from wheelbasealloys.com and they said they will fit.. but came to realise they are not very profesinal at all.

Are all tyre sets new?

If so, £2,500 - 3,500 is a lot of expenditure on a commuter car.

I am 65/130miles per day and run Nexen on the front with Michelin on the rear on 19's with superb results. Amazed by the Nexens.........cynical at first but good wear on an E Class,

A decent alignment can be had for £50ish - seems well worth the investment.

What size tyres are you running front and rear?
Width/profile/diameter and load rating?

Those tyres look like they've been abused by excessive right foot in my opinion. If you use the power and torque you'll knacker rears in no time but fronts will live for ages.

In my Volvo days could burn through a set of front tyres in less than 5,000 with a tweaked V70 T5 - your comment has brought a nostalgic smile to my face, Many thanks.
