Illuminated door sills are nothing but a pain Malcolm, I wouldn't bother if I were you.

By the way I'm not sure what sills you have on your car but I have a spare set of new R230 'SL' ones you can have?

They're only the plain ones so you can have them. I'll bring them along to the MB World meet.

NO,no you must not fit them, terrible things, they can slow the car down and make it miss fire, all kinds of things like punctures in the off side rear.

The sills are a drain point for the doors - all the illuminated ones do is trap water and eventually the EL panels fail, as does the ballast. EL panels from MB are £150 EACH to replace. I sourced some generic panels from the US but it requires removing the sills - splitting them and resealing each time they go.

There is not room in the 55 for a wheel. the same problem as the S class.

Ah Ah, I am going to fit a digital tuner to mine:cool: Maybe I will tell you how to do that:rolleyes:

I cant do this until the weather improves, as all of the rear paneling has to come out. Anyway the TV tuner does have an Aux input that I hope to use.

If this is not possible then a RF converter together with a normal house type digi box will do to install. If it goes in on the Aux,then one just sets the tv in the car to aux, if it needs the rf converter then just one pre set on the existing tuner will do. the cost will be in the order of £12, Thats what I pay for new boxes as against MB price of £800 plus fitting.

The existing tuners are awful, they only search and find something already stored., Will keep you posted. I have never used the TV yet, but if its out there I want it.

Its nice to be able to share some things on these nice cars, I am still reading and leaning.
To be truthful some of these things are not worth the money, take linguatronic, its as easy to push the button required as it is to lift the lever and speak, its good for the phone.

Hi Welski,

I actually have a Wind Deflector that I forgot to take to the dealership when I part exchanged my SL320 recently. It's in perfect condition and if it's any use to you I can sell it to you for less than the one that's currently on ebay.

I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules here but you can have it for £100.00 including postage. If you have any questions or want to see any pics of it just let me know.

Cheers.

Sadly the 129 SL320 deflector will not fit the R230 SL500.

They do sell on Ebay.
