My Windscreen and rear windows are quire marked and it is annoying to at the least

I always clean with Auto Glym Car Glass Polish

I usually clay them when doing the car but this did not do a great job

I did use vinegar and newspaper on the advice of a Funeral Director once, it did absolutely nothing. I now usually use the Auto Glym Car Glass Polish that you use and find it very good. Where you go from there I don't know

Use the polish along side 0000 grade wire wool, will pick up the stuff the polish on its own would miss

Just be careful it is proper '0000' not the '000' stuff sold in most places. I know screwfix sell the proper stuff.

The glass is harder than the steel so the steel cannot scratch the glass.

Neat washing up liquid with the wire wool works very well.
Don't forget to clean the wiper blade/s but don't use wire wool on it, a sponge is fine.

I used Ceriglass on 3" Rayon pads on my DA too clean the scratches off my rear screen. Worked really well and only took, 15-20 minutes and two pads.
Just watch out for heat build up and spray the pad lightly with water to keep it damp

I normally use a clay bar that always takes off the grime the same as your paint then clean with AutoGlym as normal

Got it clean, Clay, AG Glass Polish and then used Astonish window cleaner, totally spotless and no streaks from the wipers again

There is absolutely no danger in using 0000 grade wire wool. Unless you have arms like Garth and have uber soft glass!

The way i clean any screen/glass of any car i detail before applying/reapplying a coating is as follows (once every 12-18mths depending on coating):

Wash
Clay
Wire Wool
Wash
Ceriglass Polish with Rayon pad on a rotary at 700rpm
Wash
Clean with CarPro eraser and proper glass cleaning cloth
Wipe over with neat IPA

Overkill maybe but it ensures a completely clean screen so the chosen product, I usually recommend Nanolex Ultra but will apply whatever the customer chooses, can bond properly to the glass.

For maintenance washing (whenever I wash the car):

Wash
Clay

For top up application of a coating (every 8-12mths depending on coating):

Wash
Clay
Wire Wool
Wash
Clean with CarPro eraser and proper glass cleaning cloth
Wipe over with neat IPA
