yellow gunk

hi all,just topped my c240 auto up as the oil light was coming on once or twice,yes i know i should of checked sooner. 1.5 litres went in but what i did notice was that the oil cap had a fair amount of thick yellow gunk on it.my local small garage says over the phone that my car is a wright of being a w reg an he offered scrap value. any comments are welcome.

All the 240 and 320.s have this around the neck, same as the A,class, nothing to worry about at all, unless it's really bad...........

thanks for the reply,my car does run fine without any problems,but what do you call bad, this was probably around a desert spoon full if that.as for my local garage saying scrap,did not agree with that myself.was just worried about head gascket as a few mates said thats what had gone. without seeing it that is. it does do lots of shorf trips,i.e just reaching temp when turning of again.
