It sounds like we had a similar start in the motoring world
I have forgotten lots of makes that I broke up as well, some went for banger racing, which reminds me 1980 Triumph Acclaim HL blue, 1984 Triumph Acclaim CD gold..................I still own the same make as I started out with

I had one in Tornado Red, H plate, really regret selling it
Like this one
whoops, I also forgot about a less than 1 day ownership I had of a Golf GTI16V - bought from Benfield motors, Newcastle, stolen from the driveway of a friends house that very evening! G752 VJR in 1990 which was eventually replaced with G880 STS - 12 miles on the clock when I parked it up, never to be seen again!!

I had one too!
As standard, the 2.0 litre V6 was built to such a high spec, that it was used to power the Ford Mondeos in the British Touring Car Championship. The rule book at the time stated you only had to use an engine from the same family of manufacturer, Ford had a stake in Mazda, so the Mondeo engines were junked in favour of the Mazda engines!

It was a superb engine. My only complaint was it was lacking in torque so you had to nail it everywhere which caned the economy.
They also had a susceptibility to blocked oilways in the hydraulic tappets which could cause them to tap badly.
Other than that they were decently powerful, superbly refined and smooth.

For BTCC purposes though, they were built as standard with tuftrided cranks, polished conrods etc, way above normal road car requirements.
For a normally aspirated 2.0 litre V6, this meant from a standard 144HP, you could tune it to get over 300HP easily and still keep reliability. The equivelent Mondeo engines would have blown up after 6 or 7 laps.

They also had a ladder frame support for the main bearing caps making the lower block extremely rigid. I have a full set of design drawings somewhere. It's a beautiful thing.

And used something like 27 coats of paint, better standard than Rolls Royce, they really flew under the radar of most car buyers!

My first car was a Morris 1300 GT way back in 1978, bought it off a mate in the local, £30. Left the pub and drove 150 miles back to Portsmouth.

Moved onto Fords, Escorts 1.3 and 1.6 ohc’s,
Capri’s 1.6, a few 2.0 including a nice black JPS and two 3.0,

Most of these where bought cheaply with a bit of tax and used when I was in the UK, then left in the dockyard until my return or sold, passed on or sadly abandoned.

4.2 E. Type in red, J Reg so 1972 one. A bit of a scruffy one though. Sold it to buy our kitchen

Mk3 Cortina’s, 1.6 and 2.0.
Few Mini’s too, one a quick and moded 1275 GT, mainly for the wife at the time.

Then found Fiat Supermirafiori’s. 1.6 twin cams and two 2.0 twin cam Sports. Very quick cars, but not fast enough to outrun the rust.

Back to a Cortina Mk3, 2.3 bought for £360. Just divorced

(what a waste of a Jag)

Sierra 2.8 1982
Honda Civic
Honda Civic 1.6 saloon
VW Bora 2.0 Sport. (V Reg)
Mercedes Clk320 cab (208)2001 and kept for ten years.
Mercedes SL 500 (129). Still have this
Mercedes A200d
Mercedes E55k (S211). Still have this
Mercedes V220 and this
Mercedes B180. My wife’s car.

and many Vauxhall Astra’s and Vectra’s as company cars over the past twenty years.

So all in all, not as many as some, though in my defence I did spend many years away.
