It was at the expense of the (non-mercedes) dealer I bought the car from two weeks ago. I've collected the car and they've done a great job; I assumed they'd repair the split, but they appear to have replaced the entire panel. It looks like new to my untrained eye.

The place they used is in Leeds and I had a look on google streetview and it's a really old-fashioned looking back-street place.

I you need the name etc. let me know and I'll get it for you.

Might be useful for others either now or in the future if you could post the details here :)

old back street shops are where its at. my brother uses a guy in ilford for his leather trims. he's used the guy for last 15 years. on civic, skyline, lexus soarer, is200 and is220. i was impressed with the work on all of them. if I buy a classic mercedes then I'll definitely use him for the work. I'll try to upload a few pics :)

Got the name and address?

I ordered my next MB.......!!

I have been more than happy with the R172 slk350, but recently I have had a hankering for something bearing those important 3 letters. Prices are still strong for the late model SLK55amg, so I thought why not go for the new version!

So I placed my order and paid my deposit for an SLC43amg; in brilliant blue, with black and white nappa leather and COMAND. Only 12 or so weeks to wait;)

Well after just over 2 weeks (due to me being on holiday and not the garage) picked the bus up from it's service, atf oil change and paint work on the rear wheel arches.

Not a cheap piece of work all told, but totally happy with the work by josephjoos. Paint work looks perfect with no obvious colour difference between the work and the current paint (this is a 14 year old metallic silver,744 car). It drives wonderfully as usual. Did have a panic on the drive home as there was this annoying little whistling sound which i though may be some trim not replaced correctly. My mate who gave me a lift back couldn't hear it and i was freaking out on the way home as an s'class is a different sound to most, even new cars.

It turned out to be the battery................

........In my mates hearing aid that was the cause of the noise.

Washed it for the first time since returning from France 2 weeks ago. Also put leather cream on the seats and gave the interior a spruce up.

1999 CLK430, 2007 VITO 3.0V6 , W124's (1994 320TE , 1993 220TE ) , 07 2.5 X-Type
On the S124 replaced one :( of the rear springs for one of the lowered ones Took longer than I expected because The rear Inner control Arm Nut was so rusty it was round:( so spent a bit of time reviewing different techniques for doing it, and there are quite a few, trying to avoid the ones using jacks only although believe its not quite so risky on rear springs . Biggest headache was breaking off the 22mm outer control arm nut, the long breaker bar wouldn't touch it, so removed the Caliper and disk then realised that the whole drum handbrake assembly needed dismantling to undo & move the brake backing plate out of the way:( to get an impact driver on it ) lazily ended up bending it out of the way then the impact driver eventually cracked it off :D spring already compressed with the Klann clone tool Arm dropped and out came the spring .Then lots of faffing about with the bottom and top disc compressing and uncompressing in different positions in and out of the arm to avoid discs catching somewhere after 3 attempts I tried it in uncompressed ( as it was shorter )it went straight in, and only need a very small amount of jacking & pressure under the arm to to line up the Drop link and shock absorber holes .
The other side due to get done in a few days when i have another window of time then some adjustment of the self levelling (hope its not too rusty )

I polished and waxed about 0.333 of my S123, after it's extended stay outside. These things take time.

Got it up on ramps for some underside prodding. It's much sounder than my 19 years newer S210...

Managed to get the 3 best of 10 C140's together. All 3 Coupes left at 4pm, we did a convoy through Coventry, got onto the M6 and drove in convoy and as we entered the 50MPH limit in road works we moved ourselves into each lane side by side. shame we couldn't get any video or pictures but a pretty amazing feeling to have 3 C140's together on the road.

Yes the public did have access to the area, we had beggars asking for money, push chairs, kids on bikes. Caught one chap looking for locked unlocked cars and at one point I watched the great unwashed leaning half way into a Coupe!!

By 4pm the homeless arrived wanting the seating area so sleeping and chatting.

Yes I got the impression it wouldn't be clever to be the last to leave, all the mb club guys left early. MB brought 3 S class to the event so Id guess there was £250K worth of new MB hardware on display and at 2.30 the guys left. I assume it was getting a little tense for them.

We also had guys walking around asking how much some of the cars would sell for.!!

It's a strange place, drive for under ten minutes towards the War Memorial Park and Gibbets Hill and you have £5m houses, but the city centre has always been- even before it was bombed out, according to my now-late grandparents- a complete dump, full of "the worst sort" as Nan used to clal them.

Glad I don't live there now anyways.

Swapped the Gas struts on the boot, the 14 year old ones fitted had gone soft and ****ting the boot with the close button was like using a guillotine. Had to do it twice as the pattern parts I got were not quite right and needed little work with a file. Took me half an hour to find one of the retaining springs after it pinged off when I removed it. Works well now.
