I had similar a couple of days ago, no plate manufacturers details and spacing too wide!Got my R230 MOT’d today .....got my first refusal to issue certificate form ......nothing wrong with the car but he wouldn’t pass it because a had 3D font on my numbrplates!! .... I can find no reference to these being illegal but he said they were..... I had to go home and put my spare set on (not the best looking plates as they have lots of different holes in them)

Respecting the early startGot the 190 back with it's new sump fitted after discovering the crack on the old one.
I'd asked the guy to check it over whilst he had it and it came back with a glowing report really, no major problems. He did mention a couple of rust spots up at the front under the headlamps so I decided to address those before they got any worse. I'm happy that it's only surface rust and not real rot, so not gone through any panels. Basically a good rubbing down took it all back to shiny metal, a coat of rust preventative and a bit of top coat seems to have sorted it. I had to brush the top coat on as my air brush has died, and it's too small an area for a full size gun. Also, I didn't really have enough paint to spray, just using leftovers, and where it is it won't show anyway.

The shim/spacers and side mounting bolts were looking the worst for wear, though came up OK after a quick blasting and have now had a couple of coats of a decent quality rust treatment paint on them, so hopefully they'll last a while longer. They are badly pitted but they should do their job

The hardest bit, and the one I'm still doing this morning, is removing the front number plate as whoever stuck it on, with vast quantities of double sided tape, had no intention of it ever being removed again. I had to take it off as the ambient air temperature sensor was screwed on behind it.
No pictures of it finished yet as it was late last night, though I'll try to get some this morning
