I would avoid the dealership route unless you enjoy open wallet surgery
Ask the forum here for recommendations of local independent MB garages in your area. That will halve the labour cost of your repair.
I would do the above.
Other than I might pay a mobile engineer to come out, (if its not drivable) but only IF he could gurantee to do a full 'STAR INITIAL TEST' AND PRINT IT, AND WAS ABLE TO INTEROGATE THE VARIOUS FAILED MODULES. Circa £50-60 I hear.
If you had that "report" that might indicate your problem zone, and if it anything obvious and simple, then mend it yourself.
This would not be wasted money because you can take this to the Indy if you cant fix it ... who would have done this anyway.
I personallly wouldnt let a mobile guy mend my car, but would send it to a recommended Indy.
From what you are saying ... I think you will be gutted if you go the main Dealer route.
