You couldn't feel it had no lsd? Not much of a test drive!

;-)

Sorry, I'm in one of those moods.

No, a valid observation UB, hence my previous comment re test drives. The roads we used were very open & sweepy. And my main focus at that point was trying to get a feel as to what these are like on a run as that was a big factor for me! (Noise, realistic mpg figures, etc). I didn't doubt it's performance! :)

Whilst it was opened up to about 2/3 - 3/4 throttle a couple of times, it was roll-on acceleration from 40-50 mph on a warm, dry day.

Neither of us drove too enthusiastically - bizarrely, I've never felt too comfortable driving other peoples' cars like that ("used" not "abused", that is!). Apart from hire cars... but that's compulsory!

So if a dealer told you something was on a car that subsequently wasn't. Would you have just said "oh well I should have done my research so I'll suck it up and move on."?

Whilst we know that some salesmen don't know much about the cars they sell compared to enthusiasts like us. At the time I don't see why you would doubt him unless it was something obvious.

I would simply have insisted on viewing option code 471 on spec sheet prior to handing over a penny.

Benefit of hindsight, so would I now me_amg! :|

But he was quite emphatic (and remained so when I questioned things subsequently), and they stated the 471 code was the stand-alone diff and the pack code on mine covered it. It really wasn't for lack of trying.

As I said, I'd taken their product knowledge in good faith (having specifically raised the query), but 2 out of 4 dealers I spoke with subsequently had been caught out by the model year change it seems.

A lesson learned there, most definitely!

Still, hopefully nearing some closure now.

been following this quietly on my rarer visits nowadays (other things taking priority at the moment unfortunately) but i will say that IMO the C63 simply MUST have a limited slip diff to be viable. just been out for a 'spin' (almost literally) in my old diesel and with the number of roundabouts on the route i was on, im amazed the 63's get round roundabouts at ALL if you are making decent progress. second gear roundabouts leave my tyres squealing in pain if im pressing on hard in the dry, and a smattering of diesel on the road and a damp roundabout had me jumping in with armfuls of opposite lock just to keep it on the road! so i can imagine a 63 will wase who knows how much rubber for no reason when pushed slightly, never mind in a flat out emergency situation like i had this morning in the old diesel!

Well, their "definitely Monday" deadline seems to have slipped merrily by!

They're really not very good at this bit...

As of 18:00 this eve, it would appear that we have closure, Houston!

Well, the conversation has been had, now awaiting the written bits. But it's in line with expectations, so hopefully both I & they can park the issue!

Very critic message really, but I'm guessing he's going to get a payment so a quaife diff can be fitted?

I had a good chat with Ant from GAD about C63, it appears the Quaife is a considerable better diff than the OEM and it is lighter.

A simple map unleashes 60bhp and after they did the C350CDi today my only advice is

JUST GET IT DONE :)

Think we may be seeing Mr Rotorhead at MSL shortly Carl. :)

Tum tee tum tee tum.....

I'm not counting my ponies until they've hatched, but the written word should be with me tomorrow. :)

Yes, they've not sanctioned an aftermarket diff, obviously, but this is a consideration towards the lack of diff, in line with the option cost.

I think it's as reasonable all round as can be expected, so hopefully job done and I can actually settle the car in properly.

I did dress the tyres this eve... By way of celebration...

I forgot you were booked with them this week! You're enjoying the fruits of his labours then? :D

I think my proximity to MSL when I'm working up that way, and having met Acid & his bro, the car will likely head there for its remedial treatment.

I can imagine.

If he was napping in the wrong gear, then your torque would lap up Telegraph Hill.

It's the start of my fun when I'm working away... Especially once the piggin roadworks foxtrot oscar!

He gunned it way before me, saw it kick down as he dispatched a 123d M Sport, so I thought I would see what it is all about, I had to back off, saw him looking in his rear view mirror not sure what was going on lol

You ought to get a dot matrix sign made up, that flashes "40mpg" as you pass!

May do, he was taking a good look at Penn Inn wondering what it was as I have no badges
