Hi Craig,

Thanks for your inputs here. I 100% agree with your comments.

Please note I do plan to apply the mass damping material (this is the Silent Coat mats I bought), to the metal part of the external wheel arches once the liners are removed. This will be done before I add the acoustic insulation to the arch liners.

Feedback from Camper Converters I spoke to said these actions combined would make a material difference.

So my hope (and I am new to this) is that Silent coat dampeners plus the Acoustic insulation will combined make a difference I crave.

But after I do all 4 external arches, I plan to try and tackle other easy to access areas like the boot floor ( I hope I can apply the metal damping material to the underside when the spare wheel is removed.

Please note that our V-Class is quite new (less than 15,000 miles), so I’m really reluctant to start removing internal panels etc..

BTW Craig, is my Silent Coat mats the same as the mass damping material you referred to? I believe it is.

On the wheelhouses you will want foam or fibrous matting. Something to absorb sound (vibrations in the air).

For the body & platform metal, you’ll need something like roofing felt, self-adhesive and as thick as you can find it.
