Hi guys.. seems as tho this topic has been covered to death recently. I’m getting this warning intermittently, came on again on my way home today.
A mate works for an independent VW garage, just wondering if the gear they use for OBD2 fault reading would be compatible with the system on my 2012 c220?
I’m hoping it’s just a sensor..

Cheers,
Steve

Welcome to the inoperative ABS/ESP club. It's a conspiracy by MB

If your mates kit is VAG VCDS or equivalent no it won't read MB codes.
If it's a high end multi vehicle reader then it might.

They do work on other brands, so it might work. Just don’t like the idea of paying £50 for someone to plug in a lead and press a few buttons, literally a couple of minutes work max. But if that’s what I need to do then so be it.... I’ll try my mates gear first.

Also wondering why the run flat indicator is inoperative too. Is there a sensor on the hub that reads all the info from the wheel?
I’m new to the MB world, so there’s loads I need to learn. Might have to bear with me...

Smart + others :)
Use a indie regularly and I expect it to be FOC or not as much as £50. Or you could purchase the equipment and then it would cost you nothing?? :)
As above Vag specific reader will not work, but a generic one would.

I expect you have a wheel speed sensor fault.

I’ve only had the car since January. I had it serviced by MBS in Feb, but I’m not sure one visit warrants a FOC fault check lol..
I’ve been looking at buying my own reader, but knowing which one to get is a bit of a mine field. Any pointers?

One of the other member will be able to help with which code reader to get as we only use star diagnostics.

For a cheap solution for basic use the iCarsoft i980. For more functionalality there are a few but the common one on here is the iCarsoft v2.0 or MB II (there's an MB II for sale on the forum at the moment). There are others as well. Carly for Android, Autel, Launch all do MB specific ones but nothing is as good as STAR.

There are two types of tyre pressure monitoring. The active type has pressure sensors in each wheel and can display the pressure.
The passive tyre pressure monitoring measures wheel rotational speed so if it can't get a speed reading from a wheel it will go inoperative. It would seem you have the latter.

Yea, I definitely don’t have tyre pressures displayed..

Many thanks for all your replies

As a comparison Inchcape tried to quote me £156 for a diagnostic to ascertain my AC woes ....until I reminded them I had Tier 1 so will be paying zilch. This is the real upside of using an Indy such as yourself Ian

A friend at work was charged £100 at a Nissan dealer for fault code reading.
I’ve always used independent specialists, get a much more honest service at reasonable prices..
John, I’m sure I’ve seen your name before. Were you a member on any VW forums?
