It's strange as it seems this issue went on for some time and affected a lot of cars. So not just a specific batch of cars or paint.
I’ve known quite a few that were resprayed, all appear ok afterwards.

Just collected my 2011 R172 SLK 200 AMG and pleased with the car so far! Thanks for the advice from members on here. No doubt I'll have a whole load of new questions to fire off soon.
Cheers

clk3202001,sl6002003 with everything regrettably sold ,A class 170cdi auto. NG/TF1800 ML250
For £10k you'll get a really nice well specc'd R171 SLK280, they're about the £6-7k mark even low mileage. You want airscarf, heated seats, full leather, memory seats if both will drive, Comand Satnav with latest and last 2019 maps installed (including the 2009 firmware update required for later maps), front and rear parking sensors, FSH etc. I have most of that (just not the memory seats, but for no good reason herself has yet to drive my SLK!), and being different mine is Fire Opal Red (nearly immaculate, one small starting paint bubbling area) and am being tempted to return to 968 tip coupe ownership (undecided ATM). For £10k you're possibly into R172 country, but most of those seem to be 250Cdi's - what oxymoron put a diesel engine in a 2 seat "sports" car?? Added bonus - the R171 SLK280 is ULEZ compliant!
Not only diesel. But if om651 the gits put it in the wrong way around. If correct, avoid.
280 is a good bet.

Very nice.

Pano roof and air scarf !
Yes, the Pano roof was a 'nice to have' but I did want the airscarf. When I was shopping around I'm not sure I saw two cars with the same spec due to the bewildering number of options you could order back in the day! In the end I chose based on condition, mileage, service history and originality. Very happy so far and find the performance more than adequate for me. It's one of those cars that looks great from any angle in my opinion. Next tasks are to do a thorough detailing job, look to replace headlight lenses and get an aftermarket unit fitted for DAB and Android Auto etc. Prefer one that uses the original screen to maintain original dash look.
Cheers
