Any thoughts on Pirelli moving from 13" rims to 18" in 2021? Seems the wheel's roling radius will also increase - which surely would affect the gearbox ratios, brakes and a whole host of othe electronic trickery?

Don't they just reduce the tyre wall height to compensate, like you do with road cars?

Martin Brundle drove an F2 car ay Monaco last year with 18" rims on, looked great

Youll'd think so! but I'm sure I heard they would be bigger and slightly heavier? JBell's picture would seem to suggest you are right ref wheel size/tyre profile. Guess "wheel" (sorry) just have to wait and see.

Brundle did mention the wheel was taller so he could see less so they would have to work on that with driver position

Think that’s the championship over for Hamilton. Too many things going wrong for him this year.

Mercedes will need to up their game massively to beat Ferrari and Vettel now.

Agreed - Hamilton must be thinking 2019 now and praying he made the right choice

Didn't he go to MB because at that time they were already there with the 1.6 turbo/hybrid technology? Now the other teams are catching up.

I think Ferrari have really come on leaps and bounds this year. They undoubtedly have the best car at the moment and have done all year.

Mercedes may have the fastest over 1 lap. But race pace and flexibility to work on all tracks is making Ferrari a formidable package. MB need to up their development game now as the ‘brute force’ of the engine is no longer big enough to give them the edge they’ve had over the last 4yrs.

I’d like Hamilton to win the next 3 championships because he’s a Brit and also I fear the sport may be completely fooked up from 2021. I don’t like Ferrari as an organisation but I do like Vettel. Never used to be a fan of his I’ll admit. But, apart from bumper cars with Hamilton in Baku, he’s certainly matured a lot, is quite measured, intelligent and pragmatic in interviews and, for a boxhead, quite funny.

I retract my earlier statement about Hamilton’s season over.

Never mind Vettel

I'm glad LH kept pushing rather than settling for less. Yesterday he was saying you can't overtake here...really? They have one of the top two cars and he makes comments like that, even with a 3rd DRS zone. Danny Ric was saying the opposite and was optimistic, Unfortunately the Medium just didn't get in the range quickly enough and then he was unfortunate with the breakdown.

Where would he go? Mercedes have no vaxavac, Ferrari neither. Any other team would likely be a retrograde step.

Unless Ferrari oust Kimi, keep Leclerc where he is to mature a bit more and then pull Dan Dare out the bag in a few weeks.

Can’t see it though as he’d be too competitive for Vettel and I don’t think DR would want to play No.2.

Used to have a C63...
Agreed on both counts... Although given RB's current reliability, Force India may be a step forward! ;)

I wonder how many hallelujahs have been raised to Ayrton this eve by the Hamiltron. He really can't complain about his luck this season..... Every time he's had a duff Saturday, Lady Luck has given him a hug on the Sunday!

Beginning to feel sad about the whole F1 setup.

Inequitable revenue distribution. Utterly false penalty system. Far too over-tech to be relevant in today's changing road car climate. Pilots totally overpaid. Racing much too tyre-dependent. Liberty management too circus oriented.
It really has lost its way from the raw gritty sport it used to be.
Reckon Bernie got out at exactly the right time.
