The garage has agreed on a full refund, and should be all sorted next week.
Been to Mercedes carlisle today she’s picked a 2021 A180 amg line in black. Got 19000 on the clock not bad for 20k. We explain the situation and they said son as it’s been sorted to call them up and the car will be ready. She wastes no time does the wife.

I have had the similar experience on my Vito and it turned out to be the vanes on the exhaust side of the turbocharger were sticking open, when accelerating, causing an over boost condition and putting the vehicle into limp mode. this would disappear and reset when the ignition was switched off and restarted after a minute on the hard shoulder. I fitted a new refurbished turbo, at a tenth of the main dealer quotation and it has a two years warrant like Mercedes. And my van accelerates better now than when it was brand new, even after 700,000 miles.

By the way, if you keep the revs below 2500 rpm you won't go into limp mode. So until I fitted the turbo I kept my speed down to 50 mph on the motorway , tucked in between all the artics.....mind you, the MPG was good
