Automatic transmission fluid filler pipe

Dear All, I would very much appreciate assistance as to how one can test fluid levels and top up as neccessary,( if this is possible). I have pictures under the bonnet, if that helps. In Advance; Thankyou, Brian

The filling and dip stick tube is at the rear of the engine with a cap on top, it is up against the firewall.

Thankyou . its a strange looking cap , is it just a case of popping it off ? i am assuming i will require a replacement cap though if freely available, thats not so much of an issue, Brian

If its sealed, break the seal, it will stay on without the seal, so no need to replace

I have a 1998 210 e300td and when I wanted to change my transmission oil I found that I had to purchase a dip stick from Mercedes (their description was a gauge). I was thinking it would just be a dipstick for the gearbox but when I came to use it, it was way too long to leave in place all the time. After the transmission oil change it was wrapped up and placed in the boot and the cover refitted to the filler tube.
