EmilysMum has a 60 plate 1600 petrol C3. I 'dislike' it. Not just because I've shelled out to fix every single fault they've ever had with them ... cam sensors, water pump, electrickery thermostat (WTF builds a car with a £170 electric motorised thermostat?) oil leak to/from a solenoid for the variable 'VETEC' cam, ECU temp sensor .... all on a 20k mile car. It's an auto & stalls when cold .... to do with solenoids in the 'box that need replacing, another fault that Citroen know about & try to fix with another software programme ..... she can live with it as I'm not spending more cash on it.
Besides all that, I don't really like to drive it. :D

I don't want/need touchscreen in a car. I can do all the Comand functions with the steering buttons, wheel and voice control and I don't need to look at the screen for most of those. (Yes I am aware of the fact that all these are modern innovations.)

At risk of sounding like a broken record...

Yet another 'solution' for which there never was a problem.

No, it really does not work that way. Well, mostly not that way ;)

From a safety perspective a touchscreen is less safe than buttons. A button doesn't move depending on what is selected on the screen. A button has a tactile on/off feedback to the driver whereas a screen has to be looked at to determine its state.
Touch screens have their place for entering text in satnavs but thats about all.

They discovered this on fighter jets in the early 80s. Pilots had trouble in having to look away from their view because they couldn't tell via touch memory where they should be pushing.
