Would anyone be able to assist with a photo of the fuses behind the drivers seat in the R230 please? The reason I ask is my MB dealer sent me a diagram of what should be there which matches with the diagram on the fuse list that came with the car. The reason I ask is because I appear to be missing some. I understand that there won't be some for options I don't have but even the holders don't appear to be there.
I've shown the diagram and a photo of under the stowage area behind my drivers seat, it appears there should be three fuses or holders stacked at each end but I have two at one end and none at the other?

Everything is as it should be. As you said, the missing fuses (and Holders) are for missing options. Do make sure you have the correct fuse list for your year as there were numerous minor changes to the layout of the fuses.

I get where there meant to be but I don't see where F77 is on mine as there is no stack of 3 fuses on the right hand side of the fuses in my car as indicated on the diagram?

F77 should be on the left side. F75 is a spare so isn't there and F76 is the for the Telephone. These are the two horizontal fuses on the left side. F77 should be the bottom one.

Am I to take it that this is the left on my photo but the right as the fuses face towards the front of the car ?

The front of the car is at the bottom of the photo and the fuses are as in the diagram when viewed from the front of the car.

If you think the Command is the culprit.
Why not pull it out and disconnect all leads.
I would say pull the fuses but they offen don't list all the data of the fuse listing.
At least that way you can either rule it out or look elsewhere.

Also keep in mind, the comand is on the canbus and could be staying awake because of anything staying awake on the canbus keeping the whole bus alive.

A quick update is that I'm playing a watching game at the moment, having fitted a new battery I was disappointed it was dropping again albeit not as quickly, but thought I'd give it a wake up call as the date stamp on the battery was 2017.

I put it on charge overnight on Saturday with a starting charge of 8 amps rather than the 4 amp starting point I'd previously used which had seen the charger cut off after 5 hours with the battery still low. When I went to it yesterday morning the charger showed the battery at 13.2 volts but it had finished charging during the night, a quick check with my multi meter showed it at 13.04 volts. I left the car locked in the garage and went off to work and returned home 10 hours later and checked it again, 12.64 volts.

A very short trip to a friends and back last night and once home I checked it again as soon as I turned the car off for a reference point and it showed 12.73 volts, I went into the garage this morning some 12 hours after I'd parked it up and it's showing 12.64 volts.

A kind member had suggested that a low battery can cause some parts of the system not to shut down properly so I just need to wait and see if having given the new battery a good kick up the backside was what was needed, at least it's not draining completely overnight like the old one. :)

As a matter of course, I would check for water under the PSE pump in the boot (underneath the roof pump) and also check the drains on the front cowl and footwells for damp. PSE is on the canbus and lots of can connectors in those areas.

Hi Alex, thanks for the advice, no problem with damp in the boot it's as dry as a bone as is the passenger footwell these were on the check list when I bought it. :)

Just by way of a quick update since I put my replacement battery on an appropriate charge to get it to 90+% charged my Comand unit appears to be shutting down properly now. I locked the car with the drivers window open and went back to it several hours later and the fan wasn't running on the Comand, which it had been previously no matter how long I left it. :)

Hopefully the issue is now resolved.

So I left my car in garage for 4 days and when I went to it I'm pleased to report that all was fine. No messages and everything working from the get go. It was really frustrating when I first got it to not be able to use anything for the first 5 - 10 miles but hopefully all is well with now.:)

Very pleased to hear its sorted Graham.

I will shortly be taking some of my own medicine, and getting another new battery!

can't be bothered to read... but an idea

is the weak, flat, original battery so low on voltage even after a run that the car fails to shutdown correctly
fit a new battery and the comand is just normal again ?
