I have never been too sure about the grill on my CL500, they are all silver no matter what the colour of the car, the AMG grills are all black, but they have 2 slats and mine has 3.

Yesterday I covered it in plastic wrap to see what it looks like, I like it and I will spray it black for the long term if I keep it black. Not sure yet if mat black or semi gloss.

Any opinions please

In my opinion matt black looks the best.

Ties in well with the bumper grill/trim. If its gloss/shiny it stands out to much

On my c203 sport edition i changed the standard silver slat grill to the avantgarde black slat grill to tie in with the amg black mesh on the bumper

Nice car by the way

The black looks nice :)

Wouldn't it be more difficult to get the flies off matt black ?

much better in black - looks good. Sometimes less is more - my sl came with diamond cut faced wheels and a sort of greenish colour for the non faced part.

Diamond cut did its normal thing, so I got them done in bright silver all over which I think looks much better

The first pic looks the best to me Malc.
The third pic, silver, just looks wrong. Like a nose that's too big for a face!

I normally drive around them, but the odd ones gets through :D

Matt black does not have that much strength, so gloss black first and then matt black, the front strips are chrome and they take the biggest hit from flies, the actual slats are near on flat.

Absolute pig to vinyl wrap, so looking like I have a spray job coming up:D

I could live with either.
Black does look better IMO but nice to have a change.

EDIT: To be able to swap between the two I mean, plastic wrap is an easy reverse back to standard.

The top two pictures look the same to me, is one matt and the other shiny

I am guessing that picture No3 is a before pic, if so I prefer the after ones :D

Are you only allowed an offside DLR when the grill is silver ??

That was the only other picture that I had before I started, I am not fitting them, there is no way to make it look OK without making new grills and doing away with the spot lamps

Too many curves to do well in the wrap, too late now the grill is off and now drying in Matt Black :D:D

Black looks best, but more importantly, how do you get in and out the car without hitting the doors of the wall? It looks really tight.

Black looks great Malcolm,
I wonder what it would look like with one slat gloss and one matt ?
Either way i think gloss black would look best.
