I like the black too. Makes the grill stand out from all the silver.

Malcolm, you have made the right decision IMO. matt to match the plastic in the lower grilles, and black really adds that extra touch of 'aggressiveness' to the look which, as you have the AMG bodykit, was something the front of the car was a little lacking in previously

That is what Triv said, I have been looking at for ages and thinking, I was going to buy an AMG grill for me for Christmas, but at £700 I thought twice.
So its cost me nothing.

I may have to buy a new Star, its been clear coated at some time

Definitely the right choice IMO. Just to add a little twist to your decision making, have you considered blacking out the top and bottom chrome fins, leaving the centre fin chrome??

I cannot do that as there are grooves whey they slide in, If someone makes a grill like in the 500 above I would buy that.

It is an illusion, its tight but easy, the worst part is the house in not at right angles to the driveway

Ah ok, I don't have to worry about hitting my garage wall as I'm impoverished enough not to be able to afford a house with one, I just have to worry about my nice neighbour bashing my o/s/r quarter with their car everytime they go out.

We used to have a mini tyre hanging on a rope at the rear against the wall and one at the drivers side door , so you could back into the tyre and open your door against one , saved any chips . No parking sensors in them days .

I must put up a picture of the finished job, someone had at some point sprayed the distronic star, not that well done so I stripped the clear coat off, flatted, but every time I sprayed it the paint crazed in on spot, I could have used 2 pack but I did not have enough thinners to clean the gun. In the end just many thin coats and heating it solved it, there was a faint crazing but it polished out when hard.

my grandad used a railway sleeper to go up to with the wheels, and pieces of carpet attached to the framework of his garage for the same reasons. it worked very well for him too!

I have no problem with the length of the garage, I have 6 feet spare, I have a mark on the wall to line up with the door mirror.

I have always had bits of carpet in my garage to prevent scrapes. :)
