It's the same, or it was in the hot hatch world. I was part of a Vauxhall site, most of us had GSI's, GTE 16v's, but a few who owned 1.3 would badge them up as a GTE. It was so obvious. It's the same for AMG owners, you know what an AMG looks like, and anyone that isn't into cars would have no idea what an AMG badge was in the first place.
They look terrible and should be banned :D.

I will wrap the chrome stripe black and probably the badge as well

Good luck with those jobs.
wrapping of the chrome strip was not to bad left in situ on the vehicle, as long as you get the anti air bubble wrap, you are able to leave a small overlap and tuck it all behind the strip.
The corners are the hardest bit to get looking neat, it took a couple of attempts .
Removing the badge was a complete nightmare!, first I tried to remove it from the front by sliding an old carrier bag handle under the badge and prizing it off, no joy it broke.
So then you have to remove the boot lining, warning triangle, trim that houses the number plate light and a couple of other bits, and numerous poppers.
That gives you access to the rear of the badge, and you can see the 3 gromitts that should just push out, but they would simply not budge, ended up having to hammer them out, with a braddle .
Still all done now, just waiting for new badge to arrive and get it sprayed up, also those badges come in all different sizes so make sure you get the right one.
I hope this helps anyone attempting to do these mods.

No, took it off, simple to do with a hairdryer as you would with badges, it's only plastic
Hi, I've picked up some glue cleaner to do this Saturday, I do have a heat gun, but is it recommend to use a hairdryer?

They do exactly the same thing?
Just give heat to soften the adhesive.

I've never removed plastic Chrome before, is there a risk of bubbling the paint with the gun? I'm not an adiot, so I won't be holding heat in the same place.

From experience I can tell you it will be fine as long as it’s original paint.
If that panel has had a repair you could be in for problems.

Ok thanks, I don't think it's been repaired, but I suppose you never know!

Your car will look so much better without the chrome strips.
Just take your time, a little heat and some dental floss is a good tip.

If you keep the glue warm it will rub off them polish with AG to remove any residue left

Thanks for the great advice again, made that easy'ish work. Looks so much better, tomorrow will be spent polishing and sealing.
Most of the glue came off with the plastic, goo gone did the rest, then car wash. IMG_20180608_175133.jpg IMG_20180608_175058.jpg

To be fair I know it's personal choice, but your car gets away with the AMG badge. If it wasn't for this site I would be none the wiser, and you clearly take care of it. I might start taking pics of "tarted" up none AMG's :D. I do appreciate the previous owner of my car doing the de-badge look, but why on earth did he not take of the plastic chrome strips?
