............Im pretty sure it aint a spring thats broke mate, im fairly sure its the sensor that is integral to the door lock mech that has failed and thus cannot now work out what position the lock is in...............

it actually IS a broken spring, but finding one like it and taking the mech apart to fit it will be mega tricky. the lock has a motor, but no sensor, and so has no idea what position the latch is in btw.

On the info Malcolm is going to send there's an instruction (9) to remove the front door lock cylinder. To do this, pull off the rubber door seal adjacent to the lock where you will see a hole giving you access to the torx bolt. I also found that once you had drilled the blind rivets out at section 3 you could flex the window running rail enough to get the motor past it without actually removing it (the running rail).

same thing has now happened to my c220 2004 passenger door. (looking like a common fault?).
