Malcolm, i found a thread about rear coil spring fitment to a 2003 ml270cdi w163 and you advise you have fitting instructions? Since mine has just broken on one side the garage is quoting me £880 for the 2 and will only do the whole assembly.. Cannot afford it. Could you send me the instructions if you still have please to just do the springs?

Hi there.

new to the forum having just purchased 2001 ml270cdi with 75k on the clock. Working my way through ball joint replacements, tie-rod inner arm, ARB bushes etc but stumbling on the rear springs which are broken. The shocks are off the car but i cannot find a tool to allow me to replace the springs. any advice here particularly welcome. I have the car stranded on a 2 post lift in a friends garage.(very embarrassing) MB are telling me they only change complete assemblies. Thanks, Graham

Easiest solution is to take the legs and new springs to a workshop equipped with a good strong spring compressor. They should be able to change the springs over in 15 - 20 minutes if they are any good.
Beats buying a suitable compressor and risking your life with it "losing" the spring in the process - very dangerous.
