None have code 474.
You are a star, thank you.

So if none have the 474 code, that means no DPF is fitted.

The first download you sent WDC1641222A140105, the car where the garage is have told me this morning that all 2006 in the newer shape all have the DPF fitted.

Do they know what they are taking about ?

Thank you

Simon

Not by the sounds of it, they may be getting confused between a DPF and an EGR, the decode confirms it’s a euro4 which means it’s only got EGR fitted, Euro 5 would have DPF and then Euro 6 has adblue

Go for the V8 petrol. Far more fun to drive and fewer awkward emissions bits to go wrong. Same fuel efficiency & road tax, and another 70bhp.

I suspect they are confusing a cat for a DPF.

The tailpipe check is a good way to check.
Also look back left of engine bay for the differential pressure sensor.

It's on a metal plate and looks like this:

Will be mounted upside down to that image.
Not present if there's no DPF.

Thank you.

One of the cars is a 7G Tronic, are these any good ?.

Also I have had a problem with my EGR in the past with my Seat, is the EGR a big problem for the Mercedes is it has no DPF.

Thank you again.

Probably some in Alderley Edge... ;)

7G is fine, just make sure the ATF is changed - it's not the smoothest box from 1st to 2nd but fine after that - it can also be a little slow selecting reverse but it's decent for economy

Hi Again.

I advised the garage that the 474 code was not showing on the VIN number WDC1641222A140105 and this is their reply as attached

What does it matter where the car is? There’s one in Birkenhead and several in Birmingham to look at, neither locations are too far a drive.

use the reg and compare the co2.

Some euro4 have a DPF.
While no 474 should mean no DPF you would expect a mechy to know how to recognise one.

These are fitted with a catalytic converter. It's possible he is mistaking the cat for the DPF.
