Your lucky Oxford at least give you the part number. MB Brentford have never given me the part number when I have rang up trying to get a part number for a specific part.

Hmmm, I'm aware of this policy throughout MBRG group.

Can I ask if you wanted to purchase the part or just the part number? -
(maybe we didn't have it on the shelf)

A WIP (work in progress) number should be given making it easy for the customer to call back as the part will be "virtually" reserved yet still on stock inventory.

Smart + others :)
This is aimed at MB retail here, can you explain why different MB dealers give different discount rates to us smaller workshops like ourselves? we spend around 5-7 grand a month with our (local) MB dealer, we rang for a quote for a SL fuel tank the other day, max discount given was 12%, rang a dealer out of our area, same part, offered 24%!!!! is there any reason for this, or is our (local) dealer just pennie pinching??

My way of thinking is all dealers must get the same from MK,s, so why is the discount so much of a change from dealer to dealer??????

We get the same, even though we spend double that, we cannot even get two deliveries a day and the dealer is less than 2 miles away, yet guildford mb can guarantee 2 deliveries a day. Perhaps they (the new dealer) is after your business ?

Spurious Parts - That sounds derogotory

Who are Guttmann, who are Eicher?

Certain people claim that we bump up the price and then offer a discount, Funny however nobody has offered proof to back this up.....!

I'm offering the proof from my shopping yesterday.

How come GSF are so much cheaper than you are sans forum "discount"?

Why not just follow GSF's lead and offer low prices to everyone without the need for chessy forum discounts and special codes?

@lwbnick - if you have any other issues, feel free to contact me directly to clear them up, posting incorrect or disrespectful posts about us isnt welcomed, we, like MBRG are here to help forum members!

You're here to make money.

Hi Cole,

Are the Dealers you are referring to part of Ridgeway or Purslow group? I can only comment for MB Retail http://rsi-cda.mercedes-benz.com/content/unitedkingdom/retailer-M/ma_london/index.htm. You are right that all dealers receive the same parts discount from MBUK. I would guess that one who maybe doesn't get much of your business is being more competitive to get it.

What I need and I dare say many others, is an easy to use web site for ordering parts, with big exploded diagrams that refer directly to the part number, I want to buy the smallest trim clip or bolt to the biggest part like a new wheel.

You might want to get people in to have a chat about replacing their current car etc, as part of the experience but I haven't got time for that, I look mainly for parts in the evening over the internet, place the order and wait for it to be delivered to my house, nothing easier.

You need to be competitive, as the high streets are finding out and offer an impeccable service, quick to post with a no quibble returns policy.

For example, I was looking for a trickle charger for my car, the Mercedes one looks very nice but I know it’s made by Ctek and available for less than half price if you look hard enough, so purchased over the internet at 1000hrs delivered next day at 0930 hrs from the other side of the country, faultless service with free postage.

Anybody who can supply a service like that is set to be the leading parts supplier in the UK.
