Actually, Mercedes says this new model is 67MPG combined.
We will see ....
They said the same about mine. 65mpg.

Ignore the 60mpg figure, that's SWMBO entering a spurious reading.

As already said the estate does return slightly less mpg, whether this is due to extra weight or aerodynamics I'm not sure but probably weight due to the heavy tailgate. I'm assuming you've bought a 212 model so I would think the figures Craig quoted would be about right circa 40-45mpg in general use. One member on here has achieved 60mpg+ but that was the 213 model E220cdi saloon with a very light foot

Hope you enjoy the car!

Well mine is a W213 2016 220d SE saloon and my driving style is 'gently does it' mainly on short runs with the occasional longer trip thrown in. I've had the car from new and it has still only done 5,000 miles but my average since the last reset is around 57 mpg. On a recent trip to Leeds and back it showed (from memory) 64 mpg but as I said earlier I don't thrash it, keeping to whatever limits are in force.

Driving style greatly influences mpg as does reading the road ahead and acting accordingly so that braking and subsequent acceleration is minimised. I'm very pleased with the fuel and ride in the new E class as both are much improved on my earlier W212 and I expect the economy to improve even more once it has loosened up. Don't know about the estate as I've never considered buying one.

A 2016 ex dealer demo now being sold is, I assume, a 213 ;)

Sorry but unsure what you mean?
If a 213 is the new shape which came out at the end of last year, then yes x

Thank you. Yes I agree how you drive is a great factor. After not even reaching 30 MPG in previous cars all these figures sound pleasing x

Thats exactly what he means.
Mercedes use numbers to define the car model type exactly. For example early E class is 210, replaced by 211,212 and now 213.
Likewise C class is 202, 203, 204 and currently 205.
SL is 129, 230, 231
SLK is 170, 171 172

You get the idea.
There are secondary numbers as well and these can be found from the VIN - for example 129067 is an SL with the 5 litre V8 and electronic injection distributors for the European market.

I dream of 30mpg in my SLs....;)

Yes it is a W213, as you say the new shape.

Consumption figures should be interesting as the 213 saloon is a lot nearer the manufacturer figures than its predecessor the 212

Look forward to hearing your opinions on the car in due course

You may well find that Mercedes become addictive. Have fun on Thursday - we would all like to see some pics in due course!

... and I've actually (albeit briefly) achieved it in my CL! OK, for about 15 miles on the Leeds --> Sheffield stretch where it goes downhill a bit ;)

Collected yesterday and I love it !
Looking through my documents this morning and noticed I didn't have any Service info. Googled and realised it's all recorded electronically not stamped in a book. Called Dealer and requested a print out. He just phoned me back saying, 'sorry but unfortunately we didn't do the service, please bring it in next week and we will do it for you'
Car is exactly one year old today.
A bit disappointed I have to go back, but I guess these things happen sometimes.
I was going to enquire about service plans - good idea ??

Very nice and quite rare on the road at the moment. I'm running a 212 so look forward to hearing your thoughts on the car regarding performance and practicality as there aren't many 213 owners on here

Looks wonderful!
You're getting a service now (Presumably A) so you've 9 months or so to think about a service plan.
I took one for my E63 for convenience - costs me c£41 a month, it's interest free so I don'tt miss it every month at all, compared with finding a lump of money at service time. Depends on your view- yours should cost a lot less than that.

Yes, service booked in for Wednesday and then they'll give me info on costs for the Service Plan
Looks like my weekend will be taken up with trying to figure out how everything works on this spaceship cockpit, plus learning about Mercedes Me ??

Your Service Plan should be £37 a month which is what mine was and having had an A service taking the plan out immediately after that will give you 2 x B and 1 x A services which would work out well for you. It may sound a lot each month but if you think about it that is a fixed price for 3 years and they will do whatever updates are needed while it is in.

PS I'm basing all that on my sort of annual mileage, ie where the annual mileage doesn't exceed the mileage/service intervals stipulated by Merc. By having a dealer service you also get their Mobilo breakdown cover which is very comprehensive and,if available, a like for like hire car if yours has tp go in for a few days. I've had service plans for all three of my cars and they are well worth it in my view.

In due course I would be interested to hear about your mpg to see how different, if any, the estate is from the saloon and what sort of mileage you are doing.

Very nice and I see you have got the flash new wide screen dash display.:D That actually looks very "flat" so I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it once you have had it a while.
