Mine is perrfecctt, gearbox is a bit jerky when going downhill and when cold but its always been like that. Flaring on gear changes is normally a bad sign.

what about the effect on fuel consumption as the maf will sense the reduced pressure drop across the system. ? herbiemercman.

Its had a custom map, stay well away from the generic maps if you value your turbo!!

I read the map and send it off to a remote tuner, got them to do the initial map, then went back and forth with the changes until I was happy.

How much approximately would a custom map cost? So I have a vague idea

I paid 80 pounds, but i had the kit to read and write to the ecu, to get somebody out to do it, you are looking at 200-300. I have good experience with flashremapping.

LIKE a chimney!

mind you I have a sign on the back of the car that says "mind if I smoke?"

2 glow plugs are down on mine and the injectors are original (apart from one), so bad spray pattern plus not much glow assistance means much vaporised un-burnt diesel. I don't worry about it much.

I wouldnt bother, they dont need glow plugs until it gets down to -20, they are only really for emissions, they get stuck in the head and have to be drilled out, not worth the hastle.

You dont want it smoking at WOT otherwise your EGT's will skyrocket! Overfueuling is the first way to kill at diesel :)

Or you could just close your swirl flap linkage and disconnect it from the servo. Mine blows a bit of smoke at full throttle as the intake temps warm up (intercooler too small!). Nothing major though.

If your mech has to to the glow plugs and they get stuck, the bill will be in the hundreds! just my 2p!
