My 2p worth on the matter (based on my experiences to date) is to pay what it costs to get a decent insurer behind you. Cheapest isn't always best.
Had to make a claim on a policy recently and DL were actually quite good. That said, I think I'm going to seriously look at agreed values for my insurance policies from now on. And not just on classic cars. Or get gap insurance.
