And yes its not a Merc' but an MGF. T reg' 68k miles.
Looks unmolested new tyres and without the head mod.
VVC engine fitted seem's very nice not a peaky engine at all.....why get a bad reputation over a plastic dowel eh???

Awaits howls of derision and scorn to be heeped apon ones head????

That's not a sports car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It should be on that BBC programme, what was it, no not Antiques Roadshow - not Top Gear, nothing classy - yes that's it, Car Booty!

God, you could have got something decent.

Not heard that one before!
Being 6 ft and 15/16 stone I fit in it quite well, other small sports cars I've sat in before Z3 etc I just did'nt fit.
I think at the price it represents an astute buy.....remember the much maligned MGC? now a good example is more than a MGB!
Now who's the fool huh???????

it is all a matter of power to weight (wait?) ratio, in spite of Helen's comment about her booty .................

Underneath it is two Metro sub-frames. And boy do they rust.

arnt they prone to blowing head gaskets???

They aren't just prone to the head gasket failing - The head gaskets DO fail!

It's a timebomb waiting to go off...

Sell it again now quick smart before it fails.

Hmmm, yes well as you would expect I'm well versed with the engineering issues associated with the design.................or rather the problem lies not with the design more in the engineering detail.

A lot of opinion is based on heresay and a unfortunate plastic dowel betwixt head and block. The design itself is still class leading remember the original concept was an 1098 cc engine.

A future 'Design Icon' mark my words!!

If a Triumph Stag is a collectable appreciating classic anything is possible.;)

My son's wife had one of those engines (car that is). It went very well for a while.
Thit is, until she got in a traffic snarl up on a back road and a litle red light came on.
Asked why she didn't pull over, she said there was noplace to stop.
It was properly broke!

My girlfriend had an MGF last year, it was a 1.8vvci, however she only had it about three months as the ecu failed on it...

Oh yes in reply to the last question, the piggy bank is empty after shelling out for a electric bicycle..............petrol saved will pay for it hopefully.

I can report back that after washing and a thorough examination of the paint work, that there is no rust.
Let me say that again for Helen's benefit "there is no rust Helen".

Bet that has made you jealous has'nt it?:D
