Good evening all, I today brought home Vinnie (plate is VN1 so Vinnie) the 1st MB ive owned, a Silver E class 250 estate.

Ive had a Skoda Superb estate 15 plate (1.6) from new (Flis (FL15 plate), but Vinnie is onward and upward, 200bhp and 7 speed auto.

The load area is maybe a tad bigger than the Superb, but cabin space a tad less.

Let the good times roll.........

60 litres smaller than the Superb would you believe (assuming your Vinnie has Adblue?)- 600 vs 660 with seats up.

I do have 1 issue, it needs new front pads+discs, the Mintex book shows two pad types

MDB 2830 or MDB 2831

Discs are drilled

It's a Bluetec if it's a 2014 CDi. There will be an Adblue tank either occupying the spare wheel well or adjacent to it under the load bed floor.

^ Pretty sure it has pig p!ss added to the system - it's part of the service regime though, you can buy quite cheaply online if needed and you get warning messages on the dash if it gets low

It's £7.50 for 10 litres (£14.99 for 2 x 10l) from Halfords. Be warned, you need a funnel and some paper towels laid down!

Ref the gearbox, is it a dry or wet system? (wet needs oil changes)

Am I unusual in parts hunting and considering DIY on an AMG Merc?

I parts hunt because I used to work in parts and know how much some place mark stuff up at (im tight) and Ive worked on my own cars wheres its a nut+bolt/spanner job, plus which main dealers have had me over a few times, like Skoda adding on £3 for a new sump plug when in fact they suck the oil out of the dipstick hole..... GRRRRRR LOL

I saved £600 clearing a VGT fault on my Mondeo 130PS with Mr Muscle but thats was just for a challenge...
