Am I unusual in parts hunting and considering DIY on an AMG Merc?

I parts hunt because I used to work in parts and know how much some place mark stuff up at (im tight) and Ive worked on my own cars wheres its a nut+bolt/spanner job, plus which main dealers have had me over a few times, like Skoda adding on £3 for a new sump plug when in fact they suck the oil out of the dipstick hole..... GRRRRRR LOL

I saved £600 clearing a VGT fault on my Mondeo 130PS with Mr Muscle but thats was just for a challenge...

You may be on such a relatively new car , I doff my cap to you !
Engines these days mind are just a jumble of electronics!

Ha, if you think the parts distributors mark things up you should see the markups the OEMs put on them before they're sold to the disty chain. 2000-3000% is not uncommon.

Not at all.
There are several on here who are happy to work on their complex Mercs (AMG and non-AMG). There is little difference between them in terms of working on them anyway.

This is pretty much what MB Grangemouth do. MB Newcastle also have an excellent eBay store with very good discounts.
