Hi All,
We have a 2003 ML270 cdi standard RHD UK spec with 57k on the clock.

When the lights are in auto mode the lights randomly select main beam and then back to dip. you can hear the relay clicking as it randomly 'flicks' the lights.

So i replaced the relay - no difference, I replaced the column switch assembly - again no difference.

What else can it be ??

Every other electrical items works and there is nothing showing up on the STAR diagnostic.

I have removed the fuses for main beam for now to stop this occuring - but with MOT looming - i need to get this fixed.

Any comments / suggestions welcomed with thanks.
I will let you know if and how I solve this one.

Regards

a few simple questions :
1) where is the AAM loacted
2) how easy is it to replace - plug n play - or is it more specialist
3) whats the approx cost for the unit

The only question i can answer is #2.....the AAM is not plug and play, it needs to be encoded to the car.

No worries Hampshire jock, under bonnet n,s your find the fuse box, remove lid, then remove the frame around cover, remove the screws in center of fuse board and lift out fuse panel, hanging of the bottom of the fuse board is the AAM, couple lift up clips and slide the unit off, is very easy but as Panason1c quiet righty pointed out it do need star to code into car, you might be lucky and find a lot will work or there again you might end up with knowt until coded!!
