The Fiesta driver was a "she" American lady, very nice & polite apparently, yes she did sound her horn she said to warn my daughter who was approaching from behind at speed, at the end of the day, my daughter should have kept a suitable gap to avoid/stop in any emergency situation which is why it is normally always car behinds fault. This all took place around 2am so I am guessing the fleeing party may not have been legal (either substance or no insurance) etc.

My daughter had left our house following a family gathering, no alcohol consumed as she was being very good, not even a glass of wine but she was a little tired and wanted to get home. What is so upsetting is we offered her and her partner a bed for the night but she has had a stressful working week so wanted to wake up in her own bed.....

Not always seen as fault af driver behind, a Yr ago someone who cud not stop in time ran into a parked truck right behind me, never touched me! And no damage to my car.
Seems he got someone to say I cut accross him, I did not..
Insurance decided was my fault!! Now I hav rear dash cam as well as front.. My ncd went from forever, never claimed since 77. To 9 yrs as well. Bsds

Is that not crazy, the car was OK n reliable before prang??? How is that green, sustainable,. We are all paying out on premiums for this foolishness.
Repair ur clothes, mend ur shoes, buy sustainable food, packaging, insulate ur homes, but throw ur cars away?? There is a new find of scam there.

Depending on the cost of repairing the damage you could always buy the car back from the insurance company

It's all about stupid prices for lights, bumpers ect. In good old days one wud loose 4 bolts, remove bumper, straighten it out, put back. Or replace it for £30 quid. Bumper describes its purpose, how a bit of plastic can be a grand is just beyond belief can't believe makers cost exceeds 30.00.

Lots of salvage parts on eBay. If the car still drives well, is low miles and the insurer is selling at a reasonable price well worth doing

She wanted it repaired as it was only minor repairs no more than £1500 - £2500 but they were having none of it. She was going to sell it anyway but I totally agree, we are all being scammed by insurers hiking premiums due to their own incompetence.

As for being encouraged to be green, don't get me started on that and our recycling waste being shipped to Malaysia to meet "targets"!

Her partner is not very handy with a monkey wrench and she is pretty stubborn.

It's the headlamps, that are writing off cars today. For OE lamps on an E class, they stood at about £3000+ VAT according to my local MB dealership when I told him I paid £100 each for Hella lamps plus the bulbs for my Vito a few years back. Not forgetting the labour charges, of course, at £150/hr + VAT....
Unfortunately, on today's modern cars, a simple tool box , including a monkey wrench, aren't sufficient to carry out the simplistic of repairs.

I damn well know. And it sure ain't for driver, owners benifits. Its, a f cartel. Car makers car financiers, insurers. Same as pets. Basically a scam
