Have you got your snow chains for this winter spell

I got four steel rims and tyre's from scrap yard and snow chains great fun with rear wheel drive

Great passing fifty or sixty grand new cars in one of my old w202 they usually look on in shock as you drive past

Have a good one

Why risk damaging your Mercedes in the snow (well they are rubbish on the white stuff) when you can go safely in a Full Fat Range Rover.

This was taken a couple of years ago when I was travelling back from Edinburgh to Glasgow. The main roads were so treacherous and accidents everywhere that I ended up coming back through East Kilbride

I was out in the 126 this morning - it is fine in snowy conditions and carried on up untreated hills past people who were sliding around with wheels spinning in little FWD hatches , people carriers etc . No doubt LSD and not being 'over-tyred' helps considerably .

My previous W123 , W124 , W201 models have all coped fine as well , although the Ponton was best with its skinny tyres and high ground clearance . My air cooled VW Beetles always did well in snow as well .

I never took any pictures today , but here are some from a couple of years back . Conditions today are very similar .

In Brighton - not this year but 2008, and shows the conditions the W140 had to cope in, which it did VERY well indeed.

Before anyone asks, the ML was tucked up nice and warm in the garage in Spain - I know, I know..!!

The 3-pointed star stands proud - but where in Brighton exactly?

Where in Brighton City Centre am I.?

Traction Control - OFF - 'W' setting engaged - and up the icey hill I went. But WHERE am I..?

At last - arrived safely at my office and looking down at the hill I have just driven up (my W140 was tucked-up nice and warm in the underground garage). Where?

Thank you all. Brought bad memories to me from earlier in the year when for the first time ever i got stuck in the snow just outside our garage as there is a 6' gradient - driven back from work, took 4 hours instead of the 20/25 mins max but I i slowed stopped to carefully drive in - the car just went side ways - took her back down the road and it just gave up and left here there - used my jeep after that but even that struggled as it had summer tyres - that now has Goodyear m&s tyres and I've ordered some snow tyres for my merc.

Hoepfully it won't snow in Bexley

9:30 this morning. Many roads were closed here and still are, although some now re-opened.

The snows still falling, so for anyone who wants to visit bring your toothbrush and clean undies.

I was going to Birmingham however as the schools are closed I'm not. I've cleared the road with one of the neighbours but left the cars with their blankets on.

Re: 126 car.

Which type of LSD on it ?

Is it the fluid coupled Merc ASD type or another type ?
