Interesting another reason to keep the stop start off, had mine programmed off on my SL.

The E53 though is pretty much designed around it!

Is it easy to switch it off?

I programmed a button on my centre console to disable the stupid start/stop. It’s now part of my start up routine.

If you invest in a Smartop you can reverse the switch programming so by default start stop is off, you can also adjust the number of wipes after squirting the windscreen and increase the speed at which you can raise/lower the hood plus a few more bits...

I used to live in Braiswick but now live in Sheerness, Kent

I was in this excact same position and I realied the SL 500'S all seem to have the extras... Air Scarf, Cooled Seats, The fancy seats etc and I saw one for price that was better than some of the SL 400's with similar Mileage. I'm really happy with it so far and the engine sounds amazing. Also it has an "eco mode" if you're just driving around town and want to chill and not burn lots of fuel. Would recommend.
