Hi,

I will soon need to replace the rears and am after these. If I use BlackCircles they are £98 fitted. Can I just check that the version below will be ok?

I think the load rating (91) is too low.
You need 95 or 99.

LK is right, you need a higher load rating. Other than that they are a great tyre; brilliant in the wet, excellent braking and steering so very good on the front end of a car.

Black circles are not necessarily the cheapest place to buy tyres. When I changed my rears at the tail end of last year my local Tyre Centre were £30.00 per tyre cheaper !! I paid £114.00 each for 255 x 18" for P Zero's

I just went to the local indi tyre centre and when I said Uniroyal they advised that these were hard to get hold of, I had a feeling they wanted me to use another brand. I cannot find a higher rating for this tyre. Apparently 245/40 17" is not a very common size, which makes locating the tyres harder.

I've got some other places I can try, but I cannot find a higher load than 91. My guess is that not many consumers walk into a tyre shop and ask about load values.

I’ve used Oponeo a lot in the past (and Mytyres), see the selection on the link. When I was recently researching the Falken Azenis FK510 were rated highly, and they have a higher load rating. It seems the RS3 in that size are only available 91 as you said...

Have you tried Camskill and Tyreleader for tyre delivery

I've tried Camskill, they only have the 91 index rating, so the total price was £152.20 including delivery. Then I have to find someone to fit and balance.
If I use BlackCircles the total price including fitting is £195.88

Yup, usually is as Black Circles give a kickback to their fitter.

True .... but it was the above tyre place that told me I needed a higher load rating than the tyres I'd asked him to price match to an on-line price.
