I'm thinking of having a remap done on my CLS, it's a 250 with the Om651 engine. Figures quoted around 255bhp, up from 204 standard.

I've read some negative posts online about mapping this particular engine. Has anyone had it done, either on this engine or generally?

Still undecided.

Thanks, Andy.

There's a mapper here that says they can do the 250 successfully, Road Rage Performance I think their called. No experience myself but like you I've never heard good results mapping a 250

C350 Carl on here tried to have his 250 OM651 mapped without success, got taken back off eventually. As Matt says a new sponsor on here in Kent Road Rage posted only this week on a 250 they had mapped with impressive gains. Whether it is successful or not I’m not sure. Carl has asked them a question , not sure if he got an answer....

I reckon I would deliberately avoid this engined merc if I was ever looking at a C class , Pita that a map can be installed without the car possibly rejecting it

Thanks for the replies. I saw that post from C350Carl regarding his 651. I'll keep an eye out for a reply from Road Rage.

Honedt advice on this is swap it for a 350, if finances allow of course, and remap that. Get much better results out of it. The 250 has tolerances which are on the limit already, so not worth it in my opinion.

350cdi is a much better option for making power I agree . But I’ve owned several 250cdi’s which I have always tuned myself with no issues . Although you are right about them kind of being on the limit . It is a 2.1 at the end of the day .
I had a c300 cdi hybrid in the other day , which is basically a c250 with hybrid motors . It left with near 300hp !

When you say 'kind of being on the limit', does that mean that a 250hp upgrade puts it in mechanical danger due to overstressing?

I mean the limit of what’s safe for the turbos on stock hardware, the engine is strong enough to run 300hp but the stock turbos run out of puff . Only way to make more power after 250hp is with exhaust , intercooler or turbo upgrades

Did you take a few turns off the secondaries and whack up the flux density? ;)
