I'd forgotten how time consuming searching for a car can be. I've found lots of W204 but finding ones with many toys other than bluetooth and cruise control isn't so easy. I'm ideally looking for one with full heated (front) leather, COMAND and anything else would be a bonus. Perhaps the W204's just weren't specc'ed up as much by first time buyers compared to say the W211's? There seems to be many more of those out there will lots of optional extras.

My vote still goes to the 211 at that price point.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
W211 :)
SBC isn't big deal there are cheap recon units out there now,
compared to faulty BMW ABS DSC units across all the range.

Command is definitely a box to have checked.

Another layman question: does having a sat-nav/non-audio 20 looking stereo indicate COMAND or should I only be looking for cars that stipulate COMAND in the description?

Also is there any preventative maintenance that can be done regarding the suspension or do they just tend to fail overnight without warning?

IIRC COMAND is "Audio 50", just make sure there is a pic of the screen with a Nav map on.

I noticed the same thing when looking almost a year ago now. I found a really nice looking and well specced one about 5 miles from home rang the garage to be told it was out on a test drive but they'd call me back - they did but I didn't like the news :(

Which is what I've said before because nothing us standard on a Merc. Others makes you look for model & a trim level, & apart from the odd option the original owner might have ticked, you know what's on them. When I looked for my R Class, no two cars where the same in respect of spec. The original owner buyer of my previous Omega had just two options ...... velour instead of standard proper leather ie not vinyl & 3 pedals

Back on the subject of W204's again (I know I'm fish-tailing between them and the W211) but aside from the types with the indicators at the top of the wing mirrors indicating they are the pre-facelift model....what are the drawbacks of those models? Are they known to be less reliable or just not as desirable for some reason?

If you got a 204 with the indicators on the top of the mirror an COMAND you can only update it to 2015, the HDD is not big enough for any more updates, apart from that they changed all the engines from Kompressor to Turbo and put the newer CDI in

Well perhaps against my better judgement I've left a deposit on the W204 pre facelift that I linked to in an earlier post. Got a surprising amount for my car as it was the end of the month and they needed the sale and £300 knocked off as it needs a key making so I'll be heading up to RMK soon. The lusty V6 was too much for me to say no to...
