- But I suppose they have forecast a healthy operating profit. It would be very interesting to find out later if possible.

That's net sales revenue, not profit, that'll be a few% for tax purposes but Amazon isn't short of a quarter of a billion dollars or two to throw about either to gain market share or open up completely new markets, in the world.

Amazon is proof positive of three new world markets that is has opened up itself; book selling/ sharing; online retail encompassing just about every facet of trade/ industry/ life; and online streaming content that can be owned permanently- all one the one account.

Put into perspective, their nett revenue is the same as the NHS budget (ballpark).

about time too. I'm all for a decent society but things got out of hand IMO when they took the gollywog off Robertsons jam and out of the Noddy kids stories, and stopped calling a blackboard a blackboard in schools. its a board and its painted black. like a whiteboard is a board with a white coating on it! I mean what next? we cant own a black car or a white car?

hopefully some sense will prevail again. maybe its starting already!

The American stereotype in E01 was played by an American so nobody can criticize a local stereotype stereotyping its own stereotype, can they?

TGT is on a world tour for the next 3 years. Wouldn't it be fun if they had a stereotype in each country, stereotyping its own local stereotype while having a laugh at each other's expense and making friends along the way.

The last PC straw for me was when Land Rover Motor Company ordered the staff to take down the St George Cross flag in 2002 - the symbol of World Cup patriotism flying all over England at the time.

A LR spokeswoman said they asked them to take them down because LR are a diverse firm and to allow England flags to be displayed would have meant allowing flags of other competing nations to be put up as well and there was simply not enough room for all the flags.

I thought that was utterly disgraceful - still do.

You can OWN a black car but you mustn't call it that, it should actually be "a car of colour".

Not being racist- I take everyone exactly as I find them- but this whole "don't offend people" thing (when said people either don't notice/ don't care if they do notice etc) is silly.

I remember one local authority which shall forever remain namelessLEICESTER that renamed a certain fried breakfast fare in its staff canteen as "pig's pudding" for this exact reason. White pudding remained as white pudding however.

Third party "offence" is beyond belief, the councils banning Christmas lights etc in case it offends xyz! How many of the alleged offended have actually been asked about their opinion? Almost certainly none.

In my 10 years at the BBC I saw some absolutely crackers!
