Can I ask a possibly terribly niave question? What does it learn from my driving style ? What advantage is there to doing the reset ? Will it improve performance, economy . . . . ? How long does it take to learn - so I can ensure my driving style for that period is 'typical' ?

Really interesting post, never knew the management system was this smart.

Thanks

Most of these re sets are basically for setting the idle and throttle , the gearbox ECU has no memory as such and talks and uses the engine ECU for any learning, this is very short lived as say if you were driving fast through the gears the gearbox would be ready to respond quickly, as soon as you hit a 30 mph zone within seconds the box is back to its normal setting, If you think about it it cant be any other way

While I tried to reset the throttle, I notice that when I turn the key to position 2, I heard there is noise coming from the engine compartment, I open up the bonnet and take a look there and it seem that the noise is coming from the throttle actuator. The noise is quite noticeable, I mean I can hear it even inside the car, with all the windows close and the bonnet closed !

Is it normal or there is something wrong with the throttle actuator ???

Any suggestions at all ??
