Thanks!
But when I pull the switch it should activate the foglight right? You mean I have to pull even harder?

And for everyone that's doubting if it has a light: It does have a light! ;)
First of all, it's in the same style as the rest of the dashboard signs (which are all lighting up) so for MB not to put lights in there would be an inconsistent move. Second of all, my parents had a W124 in the past and I remember it also working. And third; my partner drives an R129 which has the same switch panel and this also lights up...

As above, the surround has backlighting, the switch itself doesn't, well mine doesn't anyway and if yours does I'll be very angry and I'll come and nick it! :p The little bulb in the switch itself is for the rear fog lamp. If yours is different I demand pictures to prove it! :D

Hey hey ;) Your right, the switch doesn't have it. But the surrounding does (is what I meant to say). And even if I did have it. Berlin is far from the UK ;)

LOL. Not in the UK huh. Also in Germany? How we love those Autobahns... ;)

Listen, I tried to pull out the switch today but it didn't come out even after pulling real hard. Are you sure it's not screwed in or something? Don't wanna end up with a piece of my dashboard in my hand...

LOL.. I pulled and pulled and it came out. Tomorrow I will open the big nut screw and replace the light. Then the only thing I still have to figure out is how to remove my heater engine. It seems the brushes are worn out; EC blows on max (blower engine starts up with a squeaking sound as if it doesn't really want to work) when I turn the ignition on but sometimes doesn't and once I turn it off or to lower speed it won't turn on by itself. Just blows at a very light speed (enough to heat up the interior) no matter which mode I select on the EC. Wanna remove the heating engine but don't wanna remove the passenger airbag first. Anybody experienced with this problem?

I can give you the instructions, but if the fan blows at minimum on all settings it will be the reg pack that has gone

surely your blower is accessed beneath the wiper linkage?

when you have unscrewed the 22mm nut, gently pull the trim rearwards untill you can move it sideways - towards the door. this will release the hooks that you will see when it is off, this is very easy really.

Okay guys. I pulled today and the switch came out and I replaced it. The surrounding is illuminated and the switch itself not. Anyway, my dashboard looks perfect again. Very grateful for your help! ;)

Alexander Patient: what are you talking about? Towards which door? you mean the blower motor comes out through the interior? I'm confused...

Television: The blower blows at a very very low minimum after it stops working on the set speed and ALWAYS blows on high or low speed (the AUTOMATIC EC only has 3 options: low, high and AUTO) after turning the ignition off and on again. Until it stops of course...

I think AP was talking about how to remove the switch surround.

Me too, confused whether or not it's my blower motor or the regulator. If it's the regulator than why does it always regulate properly after I turn the ignition off and back on? And if it's my blower motor than why does it always work after turning the ignition on? Seems I have to try both options...

May be the bearings are tight,,and you will only know that after giving the motor fans a spin.

Maybe the fault is in the control unit and this can be confirmed by voltage checks from the output to the fan and reg
