Imagine how good it is in a nice rumbly thunderous V8 SL with the roof down!
I can imagine it, bet it's really tremendous. But for now at least I'm very happy and didn't honestly expect to be soooooh impressed - Mercedes-Benz even for all the little stupid things reported on here, still, imho, make a good car.

BTW, when I was just a nipper I had a 1970 Mustang convertible with sidewinders, so I understand the throb !!!!

Had an explosive blowout, OSF on the M6. Looked like a rake had fallen off the back of a motorway maintenance wagon. Either way it burst and shredded the sidewall nicely...

One call to RAC later- bearing in mind it’s a Sunday morning- only a 2-3 hour wait for recovery (!!!) So I took the risk, pulled off the hard shoulder onto the verge and changed the light alloy spare over myself.

Now front brakes , discs , pads and new bush’s fitted and the slick 19” tyres changed over to 18” on my E320.
Went for a drive done about 50ml
Totally different car running true not a tremor in steering. Now a pleasure to
drive. So getting there ,next new air filters , fuel filter and need to pick up the orange seals and get them fitted while doing the air filters.

What you getting roughly m p g
Depends...
The r230 round town barely makes 20, on a trip scratches it's way to 25 if you're lucky.
The r129 round town struggles to 15 and on a trip might make 26 with a tail wind.
Both are 5 litre V8s of different generations (m113 Vs m119).

Bit rough considering what we have to pay per gallon , must be a lovely feeling behind the wheel though .
So still jealous.
Enjoy them.

They are lovely behind the wheel. For pressing on the 230 is superb but for cruising on open fast roads the 129 is the one to be in.
I enjoy them both - sadly the 129 less than I'd like as it hibernates in France. Helps keep the miles down though.

That cars jinxed....
Nah, that wasn’t the car’s fault. That object just appeared underneath the wagon I was approaching to overtake. Could’ve been MUCH worse.

Waiting for the coolant to drain after finally getting the leaky broken drain plug out using the heated flat blade screwdriver method (worked a treat) The cd magazine is no longer jammed after using the wooden handle tap method, (worked a treat... Ha) The magazine was empty though , I was convinced I'd find at least a scratched copy cd of drum and bass. Wiped each tray over, but not sure what else I can do to prevent it happening again. Anyway, the delicate sound of Laura Marling is more my cup of tea these days, so she sounds great through the stereo now. I'm going to research refilling coolant procedure as I've seen some start engine from cold and fill from there with the heater high and full blast. Old bottom hose was a pig getting off, but an easy fit on for new one., hope the top clip is on tight enough. Nervous about over tightening, how would you judge other than pulling down on the hose, feels strong anyway.
