Don't you just hate how one job can become 5?
Managed to get the bonnet open.
The reason I went to open the bonnet is the 210 was giving random ESP/BAS etc errors when you turned the headlights on. That (as expected) was the earth behind the drivers headlight. I touched the stud and it came away from the body....
Fixed by drilling through the steel nearby and putting a bolt through with spring washers etc. Tested and all good.
Bonnet still iffy as requires a new cable but have bodged a temporary repair and at least I know how to do it from underneath now.
Found the rear undertray was in a poor way so going to just leave it off and see how it goes.
The big nasty was when jacking on the jacking point there were some nasty noises like crunching cornflakes and it disappeared up into the sill. So now there is a decision to make. Has the old bus finally gone to the point of uneconomic to repair?
Finally noticed damage to a front tyre so that needs replacing. As it's pretty worn any that'll be two tyres.
@Wighty I've ordered Nexen tyres since you recommend them. Far cheaper than the Rainsports I'd normally go with so we shall see. If they're rubbish it's your fault!
The good thing is if we decide to retire the 210 I can use them on the 129 if I want so that's useful.

Well Kiwi, if you don't keep on top of these jobs..............:p

Had a bit of an adventure with the smart car...

Went through a few floods... last one looked too deep to risk so turned around and went back... the flood before it had been deep - had a bow wave...
In the flood was a side sill from a smart car... I thought I’ll pick that up, so opened the door and rescued it. Stopped on the other side and noticed one of mine had gone missing, and the rescued one was a perfect match...

Didn‘t realise until I reversed onto my drive and heard a plastic crack that the under tray was hanging down at the rear...:(

With a good few cable ties, some industrial grade sealant glue and an old numberplate, repairs made and all back together. So pleased I turned around and found the missing plastic and that it hadn’t floated away or been run over by anyone else.

Finally after 1 and a half years I have finally got the SLK seat position right for me tonight and set the memory. It is nearly at the bottom of the adjustment but at least my knees aren't tucked up against the steering wheel now, so I celebrated with a top down drive in the SLK

I find flat to the floor is a good driving position, also less wind in the lockdown Barnet... it’s not a good look. It’s a great drive though

If I forget to lower the steering wheel I feel like a right dope driving it with my hands above my head
It's not as draughty as the R170 for wind on the wig :D

Oh, I have just remembered, I went for a top down drive in the 55 this afternoon........How could I forget that

You're just rubbing in the fact that my 230 is still in the paint shop.

The Wighty guarantee is still in operation for long term forum members ;) , if they are no good I’ll refer you to @V6Matty who recommended them to me and on and on the blame gets passed .
Damn, seems the blame always makes it’s way back to me eventually lol

don’t worry Al they’re good tyres, perfect for load lugging and surprisingly stable in the wet, okay not rainsports but very close
