I'm getting the rear silencers removed today. I've found someone who seems to know what they are talking about... I want my E550 to sound like a V8 ! I will try it with and without smaller silencers. I will let you know how it goes. ;)

Had something similar done with my SL500 - rear boxes were stripped out of most of the cladding and a larger through bore pipe in- worked very well, proper V8 noise without too much drone...

Coaxed 31mpg out of it (the bus) on my daily cross country run of A and B roads and country lanes. View attachment 41358

Just spent one night in Mansle and had a superb 3 course meal, with a bottle of Cote de Rhone overlooking the Charente.
Will go again!

Just over an hour from our house.
The Charente is a lovely river - generally thought to be one of the prettiest to go along in a boat.

Wait until you see the Russians. Their grit is so corrosive carmakers have to have special Russian-spec chroming, it strips it right off otherwise.

Went out driving in the snow to town looked like sleet turning to rain. Got down the RN no problem but when I turned off onto the departmental D road for my normal route I knew I wasn't getting much further. Looked for a place to turn around and got stuck on a gradient of about 2 degrees, got going again with the help of her indoors, the local Mayor and secretary outside whose Mairie we were busily slowly churning up the snow.
Made it back and now sitting after lunch and a (few) glasses of wine watching the sun melt the snow.
Lesson in the snow take the choice of traction (Golf GTD) over the comfort of a Merc.
Looks like next week for the thermostat and anti-freeze change may be iffy!

Filled it with £80 worth of Shell's finest for a trip to Heathrow tomorrow morning.
5am start isn't thrilling me.

I chucked £80 odd of the V-Power Diesel into the old gal last weekend as I suspect sticking EGR valves, hoping it will help clean the system along with a bottle of Wynn’s.

That was taken in Ameins. We’re staying in Peronne for the weekend

Ah... was just wondering if it was further south to where our place is (but obviously not).

Today, I've messed about with the COMAND online to try to work out the point of internet connectivity in the car. I've tethered my phone and got the connection working so that the MB apps come up and I cna browse the web; now can anyone tell me what it's for? I can't for the life of me work out what I can do on there that I can't jsut do on my phone.

Can you, for instance, update the COMAND firmware over the internet connection, or something similar? I must be missing something.
