maybe this has been answered before, sorry I can’t find answers,
How or what turns off boot lights on 07 E class W211.
I have found when changing the bulbs to led that I have a bad connection as by moving wires on the light up in the boot lid I can bring lights on and wiggle again to knock off , so going to take cover off ,but first I can’t see how the lights are turned off when boot is closed. There is nothing on the bottom
catch that I can see.

No can’t find anything. I am going to
remove boot lid lining , wherever the fault is it’s close to the we centre light on the boot lid. It’s just they don’t appear to go off once they are on and go off when I wiggle that we light

.
Probably near the emergency manual override switch in the boot lock (often red plastic sliding thingy), as this normally turns the boot light on/off too.

I don’t remember seeing any red panel. Will have to recheck. Thanks.

I have one in my A200, and there definitely was a similar one in the GLK350 (X204).
It's a tiny sliding switch, accessible (just) from the inside.

No red item. But it is connected to the
catch , I took mine apart and now it does not work even when I wiggle it.
Lol. The switch is the problem ok
But I can’t see where it comes off the latch , so does this mean you have to buy the whole thing ? I have few photos.

Yes, its going to be one unit. You may have some luck with electrical contact cleaner.

Tried contact cleaner , airline etc
Think it’s gone , when I got the car the boot lid was taking water I had to seal it and drill 2 tiny holes to drive it out , I think the water done the damage. The locking is all good so don’t think I will buy whole unit just for the we boot lights.

Anyone know exact fuse number that covers the boot lights ,
I have the the sheet but there’s so many under ambient lights , it’s hard to pinpoint exact fuse for interior boot lights.

If you change only the latch, yes. The lock cylinder is in the release handle section and stays the same.

Thanks so then the remote locking for the boot is not effected.
I would be changing the bottom latch unit , not touching up at the handle or
key barrel.

Just curious, does your dash show the boot is open warning when driving?

I've got a 2003 W203 C-Class and my boot wouldn't open because one of the 3 cables going into the boot latch had come loose from the connector. Managed to sort that with a slight wiggle and chewing gum to keep it in place out and now it opens and closes. Only problem for me now though is my dash still shows that the boot is open even when it's not, so I'm thinking it's an issue inside the latch unit itself.

No light on my dash the only fault in mine is the boot lights run from it .
There seems to be quite a bit inside
the works attached to the latch ,
I bought a used one in Germany on
eBay they were open to offers I got it for £29 all in.
