Hi, I think I am well overdue for a brake fluid change and there are choices between Dot4, Dot4 plus, synthetic, and non synthetic. Any idea which will suit a 2006 CLK? are there any issues with mixing, as I don't know which of those is currently in there.

Have a look on the brake reservoir cap the fluid type should be printed on there - no need to put anything other than that in there

I’d avoid mixing. If you do, my understanding is it will only be as good as the worst stuff in there.

I am looking to flush plenty of the new stuff through the system but not sure if this will get it through the ABS system. The Haynes manual recommends Dot 4 plus.

Use a baster to get as much out of the tank as possible then go draining (furthest to nearest) keeping the tank full with fresh juice.
