There have been some recent post about new screens causing problems with auto lights & wipers. You might need them setting up again via a place that has a proper Star (diagnostic/programming magic box)

Oh ****ting hell.

I have a mate who has the computer but it's prob a tricky job.

I have 2 bad stone chips on my screen, but not MOT failures yet.
Also, only in passengers line of sight.
The reason I have not called anybody yet, is because I do not want all the grief that may ensue. Mine has god knows how many led looking type sensors behind the mirror (at least a dozen, it seems) for wipers lights etc.
I think that if I do finally ring the insurance, I will insist it is done at my Merc Indie, so everything will work again, and I would hope it will not cost me anything. Windscreen insurance should surely mean it will be put back, how it was before replacement?

I'm willing to be corrected .....

I think it's all one unit. I had a case of my auto wipers either not wiping or going directly to monsoon setting. When I removed the cover from the unit under/behind the rear view mirror, you could see that it wasn't clipped up against the screen correctly. Now that it's against the glass it works as expected.

Already paid the £75 to autoglass and its booked in.

Surely they have to replace with the same windscreen

I had a new screen done on my old car, fitted in my drive.. (W210 with auto wipers) he sorted it all out without any programming, checking the wiper function.. so problems are not a given, but I understand they can happen.

I know some have had problems, but a lot of cars have auto lights and wipers now, so it must be pretty routine for the windscreen replacement companies to deal with any issues.

Yea, on the phone they mentioned about camera's so im guessing that the sensors.

He said they might need resetting but the cost is not covered.

Guessing the screen comes with the sensors. Hope
I get a good tech doing the screen

I doubt the windscreen replacement co. will give a toss how it was broken, it's business for them. Just tell ins. you are not sure how it happened, you were driving along and then "Crash" something must have hit it, and you don't know what, as the shock distracted you.
Insurance companies are happy to attempt to scam us by not giving you their best quote for cover without a fight, rip them off for a change.

Having re-read your first post, I am curious.:-D Firstly, to smash the screen with her foot, I'd imagine her legs had to be up on the dash board????:-D
Also, are you sure your ex wasn't actually a Burnley RFC player in disguise, who was on leave off the rigs and still had steal toe caps on?
When I look at the size 3's my wife wears, I doubt they could break a sheet of paper let alone a screen.
Now is the time to "fess up" to the evenings antics and give us all a laugh.:D

Hahahah im being fully honest with you, I was shocked she could actually do it too, she's a size 4 about 5ft 5 and weights like 8 stone, very slim.

She was angry it was an argument and she didn't want me to drop her home and I did and she went mad.

She has a very strong kick, and she as actually bare footed as she took her heels off when she got in the car (this was at 3am and she was very drunk)

Mental!

The back seat of the car is the correct place for after-party gymnastics . . . ;)

The camera calibration if required is easily done (it is a multifunction camera covering various things) by the dealer (pricey!) or an Indie with STAR and the headlight alignment target. STAR tells them exactly where to position the target and then they seem to puch a button, and done!
