Actually no Matty, he's bought me a £38 dressing gown that I chose from Next, I'm not into all this expensive face cream malarky. I go down to Lidl and buy their own brand as it's all pretty much the same. When I want something nice like perfume I just buy it myself, I don't even tell Keith. I treated myself to a small bottle of some Chanel and Dior perfume this year and that's my gift from me to me

My gifts to me are bought with money from my state pension so I'm lucky that I now don't have to feel I'm spending money that Keith has given to me. We have a system whereby all our bills are split down the middle so we both have the same amount left and neither of us feels we have to explain ourselves to the other. We were the same before our daughter was born, everything bills wise, food and fuel was out of a join account that we both put the same amount in, then anything we had extra was ours to save/spend. Since our daughter was born we worked out that there was no point her going back to work, we wouldn’t be better off because of it, add to that covid then hit, we took the decision that until she’s in full time school and I’m still earning what I do, we just carry on as is, I sometimes joke that I pay her the minimum wage for child care, as you can imagine that joke doesn’t always go down that well, usually as she reminds me that she should be getting paid holiday, but for some reason never takes any time off lol

Yes I think you could be cruisin' for a bruisin' with comments like that. Keith used to tell me I was living in our house 'rent free' when he was working, despite me owning half the house

When we married my wife's parents insisted on a pre-nup. “What is her's is her's and what is mine is mine”. That was almost 45 years ago. My wife did not work for most of our married life and strangely the “pre-nup” has disappeared.

We’ve always had joint bank accounts, jointly own our properties etc etc. I’ve always considered marriage a partnership and have never understood the idea of having separate money!
