Broke a bolt.

Unfortunately, it's on the front mount of my rear subframe and has snapped off leaving next to nothing showing, certainly nothing left to grip anyway. The others were all pretty tight but this one, even after lagging in penetrating oil, was reluctant all the way till it sheared.

Ah well, see how good my drilling skills are now I suppose...
Soak it in ATF/acetone 50:50 mix then try drilling with a left hand drill bit (twist is opposite way to normal drills).

Actually made some of that up in preparation for this job Alastair. :)

I'm leaving it for a day or two now, shoulder's very sore today. :(

Well... Who'd have thunk it?
I started this thread March 30th 2012, almost SIX YEARS AGO!
I can't believe just how popular it's been, really pleased that it has of course! But, as I've read some of the posts over the years they've entertained me as I'm sure that they have you too....
Here's to another 6 plus years..
Keep it up...

What did I do today? I put the heated seat on for the wife... :) 10 Brownie Points ;-)

I had a spare moment today and decided to check out the N/S front wheel after misjudging the kerb doing a u-turn to park in the 6 inches of snow covering Glasgow last Wednesday and saw this

.
Ouch!
I had to touch-up today a tiny scrape (four-five 2mm marks, not even through the power-coated layer).
Was rather pleased to note, GTechniq C5 is still holding its ground, considering it's been 16 months.

Changed dipped headlight bulbs for nightbreakers. One bulb had blown, but I changed both. Now nice and bright. Using various contrary youtube sites, took over half an hour to change first bulb and 2 minutes to change the second. Big hands , cr@p visibility and not being clear on what you are trying to do are definite handicaps.
Best verbal instructions were on a video where you couldn't see anything. One where the bloke actually removed the whole headlight to show you what to do (fantastic), was a different fitting.

Going for a rare long drive Friday, so checked all fluids, tyres, filled her up with a shot of redex and squeezed in a quick wash before the rain came again.

Just picked up my 2 wheels with my new Pirelli winters on . Whenever I see new rubber I am amazed by the difference to the worn rubbish I've just taken off :D .

Oil change.
Simple and relatively clean using a 12v pump from the dipstick tube. Even threw-in a neew Bosch filter as I was feeling a bit picky.

Can mever get over how pis*ed off I get to see the new oil just as black on the dipstick as before I changed it...

Welcome to the world of diesel ownership.

Still, 25 minutes start to finish including tea...

At last, an opportunity to clean off all of that crap that has been building up over the last couple of weeks. It was a job I really enjoyed and no stupid comments from the neighbours either. :)

Looks so good now that I want to bring it inside. Like my good buddy Gordon did with his Ducati. Needless to say he is not married any more. She didn't seem to understand the strength of the relationship between a man and his Ducati. At least his Ducati remained faithful to him.

I'm guessing your good buddy Gordon's relationship with his Ducati wasn't the only thing that went wrong
