Hey all
Had a few issues since taking ownership of my '10 E class 220 (S212).
Firstly, EML came on and flagged a cylinder misfire. Reset by dealer and told to monitor.
Secondly, EML came on again. Returned to dealer who allegedly sent it to a Merc specialist and the Star system didn't find a fault. ECU apparently updated and EML reset.
During these issues I could not note any issue with the way the vehicle drives.
Finally, yesterday I ended up with the vehicle a) failing to provide significant acceleration on throttle, b) coolant guage going from 80-100-120-90-80-120 etc etc.... essentially moving up and down throughout that range. This happened whilst the vehicle was running but also whilst the vehicle was parked up (as I was worried about causing damage) and in pre-ignition key position and c) when turning over to start the EML came on again. Finally the rad fans where running loud and strong when I stopped the vehicle and continued to do so for 10 or so minutes. Of course I am worried about a major overheating issue.
I can't see an obvious coolant leak coming from anywhere.
Does any one have any thoughts on what I can check, what the issue may be or further tests I could do myself before I book it in with a mechanic.
Thanks!
